Hi guys,
got 2 new race bikes. Swapped with 2 friends for 2 of my bikes.
First one is a Uk built Hejira PE250 from around 1980/81. The PE Suzuki engine is converted to disk valve induction.

The second one is a bike I formerly owned and came now back to home. Built back in 1977 behind the iron curtain in eastern Germany. It is a copy of an Egli TZ frame. In the pics there is a TZ250 engine in it. Now equipped with a TD3 one

Yeah, not to compare.
Near all race bikes in Eastern Germany were homebuild bikes. Works MZ were only built till 1976 and they were not available to the avarage rider, only a couple of works riders got them. Nothing to buy from over the shelf. For this bike the builder got a destroyed Egli frame of a swiss rider via Finnland. They used it as a pattern. The engine was smuggled in via Tschechien. They had to made many parts from scratch. For example the hubs are casted out of Elektron, so were the fork yokes. Not all parts were to save. Plastics were always made from scratch. Often changed the outfit in the life of a bike. On mine is the 2nd incarnation where the plastics were build around 1983, copied from a Yamaha TZ250H.
All the bikes were called "Eigenbau"(homebuild). All Yamaha logo had to be removed from a bike.

Well,
had a bit of luck yesterday evening. Won this one in a raffle in the UK. Hope to have it in Germany end of march.

Man, I'm jealous.  The only bikes that get raffled around me are Harleys.   Congratulations!  World class! Nice collection. :taz:

Added a TZ/E roller to the stable.....
Wrong fork and rear wheel but the offer was so good that I couldn't refuse to buy it. Stood in a private collection for a couple of years. All the wrong and missing parts I have lying around.
