Ours came too. We were not in need of it. I suspect well over 80% are not in real need of it. But, it keeps politicians re-elected. SOMEONE will have to pay the bill some day.

I feel the same way.

It's funny, I got a paper check even though I have done direct deposit/withdrawal for the last quite a few years.  Even the last $600 came in direct deposit.

We are blessed to not really need ours either, but there are a hell of a lot of people out there who really need the help.

My wife and I are fortunate to be working every day (real estate inspector and middle-school speech path), but the bar, restaurant, entertainment, theater, film, travel, etc industries have been decimated.  Some of my friends have been out of work for almost a year now.

I live very close to one of the main restaurant rows in town.  Most of the once thriving restaurants have closed, and are boarded up.  Not only the owners, but servers, cooks, dishwashers, cleaning people, all out of work.

I would much rather see our government support we the people, than waste billions on bullshit wars, the corrupt military-industrial complex, and lining the pockets of corporate fatcats.

I'll do my part to stimulate the economy, by spending part of my $600 on a Dynatek coil and (hopefully) a Zeeltronic CDI for my LC.  :whoop:

I feel so sorry for those who had the smarts enough to become entrepreneurs and open their restaurant or shop or whatever, and they were successful making good money, and then with no fault of theirs, POW, you're done. And then if they had employees....  :-[  Luckily, we don't need it either.

Yup.

We had a "locals only" xmas here, and only spent our money on gifts close to home.

hmmm, let's see. income from in-home-daycare down at least 50% since PPP money ran out in May comes to around -$12,000 due to decreased need for childcare. Rental market saturated since college has gone virtual so one of two rentals empty equals negative $250 a month starting now until...???  $600 is like a kick in the balls from all the billionaires who's incomes have gone up something like $27 billions since April.  Good thing I have a garden, gun, bow and some deer around.
Feel free to send me your check if you don't want it. People on welfare get more shit than me and I don't qualify since I actually have assets, and don't want it cuz I'd rather work, but at this point I'd take some extra cheese to pay some bills since no one around here will buy my worthless empty rental and who knows when we'll get more clients.  Fuck :bang:
I used to come here to not think about this shit.

^--- This.
I find it amusing when people lament about the people they know that are unemployed, and/or that the amount of money isn't enough to make a dent in their situation... and in the same breath say "I'm not hurtin, so I'm gonna blow it on Beer and Pornhub" *rolleyes*
Get out and support the industries that are struggling. Or, if you feel that strongly about it, donate your portion to charity, or directly to someone in need.

If you want to help out even further... If you're feeling great? Go get tested anyway! This will help drive down the Positivity Rates and more businesses will be allowed to reopen sooner.

don't get political about it.. its a thin line on this topic i know. :police:  But for me, its going to cover machine work on the block and crank of my 66 galaxie. well, some of it. which i was going to do anyway.

Im not getting a full check, for sure, but some. and im more than happy to get it to Tony at the machine shop that has seen a decrease in work over the past year, as have we (about 20% overall but steady).  I work in a small company with 6 people, so i get it.  (2008 was way worse for us financially as a company, that's why i left and went back almost 8 yrs later. )

I can say, im glad I'm not a big corporation anymore, my whole old  team got furloughed/laid off at atlas copco/cp. and that's controlled by the board in Sweden.  greedy bastards.

So, i'll get some stuff done earlier than later and give Tony a bit of scratch in his pocket as well.

In Western Australia, we received a $600aud credit to our electricity account. We are lucky to have a great government and (mostly) be CV19 free (some cases in overseas quarantine).

Every state and country is different and I wish you all the best in these troubled times!

We haven't received ours yet and fortunately we don't really need it, the last one was not much so we may not get any this time.   Hopefully the  government will get their shit together and distribute the vaccine so everyone can be immunized.  Like everyone else I am getting tired of being on hold.
