I'm trying to have a sticker made to replicate the one that was on my bikes steering head. Mine was in horrible shape so I couldn't get much information off of it. A friend has one as well and his was a little more legible and I was able to get some information.  Can anyone help me confirm and or help fill in the missing data for what I was able to get off his bike?

1st Line       MFG. BY YAMAHA MOTOR CO. LTD. 12/78 (506) GVWR 723 LBS
2nd Line      GAWR FRONT-255 LBS.  WITH 3.25S18(B) TIRE 18 X 1.85 RIM
3rd Line       AT 28 PSI COLD.  REAR 490 LBS. WITH 3.50 X 18 TIRE
4th Line            18 x 2.15 RIM AT. 36 PSI COLD
5th Line       THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL MOTOR
6th Line       VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS IN EFFECT ON THE DATE OF
7th Line       MANUFACTURE SHOWN ABOVE.
8th Line       VEHICLE ID NO.      2V0-         001949
9th Line       VEHICLE CLASSIFICATION . . . MOTORCYCLE.

If anyone is interested I could have these made with your specific bike serial number. I have a local company that can do these and they look factory.

This is what I was able to see on my Daytona.

1st line-MFG BY YAMAHA MOTOR CO. LTD. 12/78 (506) GVWR 723LBS.
2nd line-GAWR FRONT- 255LBS WT 25518 (B) TIRE 18x1.85 RIM
3rd line-AT 28 PSI COLD REAR 490 LBS. WITH 3.50??? (B) TIRE

The other lines are really messed up. Hope this can help a little.

Some useful info here although not specific to '79. http://www.2strokeworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=444.0

Obviously once a template is created for the '79 the only things that need to be plugged in for each bike are the build date and serial number. For bikes that are missing the original decal the most difficult part is going to be calculating (guesstimating) the build date.

Here's a picture of the one I'm going off of, you can tell what's missing by looking at the photo.

That was a big help, I updated my information based off what you sent.  Anything helps so I really appreciate it

Thanks for sending that, everything helps

Yes, knowing the build date might be hard to figure out unless there's enough information to be had from input like this.

Thanks again for your contribution !!!!

Those are great pictures, you have the cleanest one I've seen.  Can you get one of the lower portion of the sticker?

Thanks again for your help !!!!

Pretty sure your photo above of VIN 001949 is this:

I see that I did leave out a line, thanks for catching that.

Odd that your bike #001528 was built 1-79 and the one I was looking at was 001949 built 12-78  Go figure that one out....:umm:

SoCal250

The text in your first message that you updated still has some errors in it. To properly make a reproduction it should be exact, inlcuding correct spaces and punctuation like the original. For example, a glaring error is the Model Code portion of the serial number is incorrect. It should be "2V0" like in my last post. The Daytona is not a Two Vee Oh, it's Two Vee Zero.  :twocents:

The image I posted of #001528 is not mine, but yes that is odd that a higher serial number has an earlier build date.

Thanks for the observation, I want to get this as close as possible to the original. I measured the one I had access to with dial calipers to get the length, width, and font height.   I want to study the photo you sent more closely to make sure the spacing and fonts line up like the original.

Again, thanks for all your help. This is a small detail but I'm wanting to build as as close to showroom floor reproduction as possible.
