Picked up a new basket case today. 1982 GSX750s Katana with a 1100 motor.
Been sitting for years, but looks like its about 95% there.

Its been over 30 years since Ive had one of these.

one of the few four strokes I would own.
Do not underestimate the power of a two-stroke.

1975 Yamaha RD350 (modified), 1973 Yamaha RD350 (stock), 1971 Suzuki T500, 1981 Yamaha XS650 HS2, 1982 Honda MB5, 1980 Puch Maxi, 1979 Puch Magnum, 1993 Tomos Bullet, 2003 Malaguti Firefox F15 LC

Probably not a chance in hell I find one here in Georgia.

Fun in straight line for a mile otherwise no good bikes.  Hope you're not dissapointed.  We had one a few yrs back and couldn't wait to unload it.  I called it a freight train.  Goes straight fast for a vintage bike and well planted.  Not for corners.

rodneya

Not at all disappointed.
Ive owned a 750, 1000 and 1100 before. they may not handle like a new sports bike and they are heavy, but I never had any issues keeping up with other bikes through the twisties.

Yes I think I read back in the day that Katana's handled well.  I loved the look, kinda like Mad Max MFP police bikes.

I had an 80 Katana 750 when I was on Okinawa and the only new bike I ever had was an 80 GS1100ET  Both very good bikes

making some progress. Frame finished and motor rebuilt and back in the frame.

This motor has a roller bearing crank, so getting the block down over 4 pistons was quite a job.

You work fast, bro! I'm envious of your garage time

:olaf: LOOKING GOOD. those forks are tits.

Finally back together. Still some work to be done but she is running.
Flat clear coat is a whole different animal to spray. That was quite the learning curve.
