I see a number of sellers on Ebay with rims but this guy seems to be the biggest one out there.
Is the stuff any good or just crap?

Looks like the same stuff I posted about before - shipping.

Unless you buy OG date coded DID rims they're not gonna be proper.

If you're going to the expense of sourcing new rims and having them laced up, might as well do aluminum and save a few pounds of unsprung rotating mass.

I'd be going a bit wider too.

But that's just me.

The cost of shipping alone on those, ouch.

Check out MikesXs.net. They have off brand aluminum wheels for like $90 each and stainless spoke packages. It might cost more, but I think a lot of us here have gone this route and it's about the most affordable way to get aluminum rims. With cheap steelies who knows how long they would last anyways.

Wheels and spokes shipped to me,... I laced them.

I thought that included lacing, that's why I asked. For a race bike I'd have no issue paying that, even if I had to lace them myself (not something I find super enjoyable).

Everybody on here that has done the Mikes wheels (others sell them too) agree they aren't the greatest. Mine for example aren't super straight, or even particularly light. For tooling about they have been fine and have seen a wheel speed verified 100mph+ like five times lol. I think they look pretty great though. They are cheap, and 6 years later they are still working well. No regrets I guess.

I bought black anodized aluminum rims for my RD350 this winter from "lgarage" from Thailand. Likely the same source. I did not want to use the heavy "H" style rims from MikesXS. The ones listed were 1.6"f and 1.85"r width but I messaged him and got 1.85"f and 2.15"r width for a couple bucks more. I was impressed with the quality, look very nice, a bit of distortion near the weld but nothing major. I bought stainless spokes/nipples from Buchannons for a bit over $200. So I was all in a bit over $400, laced and trued myself. I was able to get them true within a few thousandths of an inch.
