Finally had the chance to assemble my bottom end on my rd400 and sealed the cases up with permatex motoseal as suggested by Chuck. It's be sitting now after two weeks and where the sealant oozed out it feels squishy still. Is that how it sets up or does it get rock solid? I mixed the tube before use and it's been warm in the garage.

I haven't used Permatex Motoseal, specifically, but gasket makers like Hondabond and Yamabond dry, but don't harden so they stay squishy like a very soft silicone. You want them to feel that way, as it's what gives them their good sealing ability long term.  Though, oozing should be very, very minimal.  You want an extremely thing layer, to the point of being see-through.

^ agreed.

motoseal is similar to yamabond 4. good stuff.
