I did the stage III kit back in late 86, after I twisted my crank.
Sent my crank, cylinders and head to SPEC II, and got bigger reed cage along with the bigger carbs and K+N filters with my rework parts....Already had Toomey pipes. (which is why I ended up twisting the crank)
Bike was a screamer...still is...SPEC II knew what they were doing.

I am wondering the worth of these items, and other stuff to improve the performance of our old bikes.

I can see back in the day when our bikes were new, and we were young, to try & get more power out of everything.  To be able to beat the next guy.

But now as old farts, I am wondering what saving an extra second off the 1/4 mile time gets us with these bikes, if we put these parts on
As a new one will just pull up & beat us.

Now if the bike needs work anyway, and you are moving away from stock, it may make sense.
But all the sales for big $$, come from stock bikes.

Just my thoughts.

If the parts above go for $1500, thats a half to third of the cost of just picking out another bike

1: because its fun.
2: stock bikes are pretty boring
3: some of us couldn't care less about resale value, I never do.  But, i've also never lost money on a bike sale.
4: because its fun.

Thats a hell of a package deal. i bet it goes over 1600.

$1 in 1985 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $2.75 today

$890 * 2.75 = $2447.5.

Alot of money then & now
