Another one in the RD quiver
« on: December 20, 2022, 07:06:23 PM »
As if I needed another...

I picked up this 350 a few weeks ago. Mostly stock with a fresh complete engine rebuild and some hidden upgrades (VS Dyna ignition, 520 chain conversion, new Barnett clutch, Sonic fork springs, professionally lined fuel tank, etc.).

First thing I did after bringing it home was remove the rack and sissy bar that was on it, and then installed some Superbike bars. :vroom:

I've been going through it making sure everything is good to go. Ran the carbs through the ultrasonic and rebuilt them with new brass, and replaced a few little parts that weren't stock or were missing. Need to investigate an issue with the pump, as it appears it was rebuilt but maybe didn't get put together correctly.

Yes, kind of local. I picked it up over at Iconic.

Yep, the plan is to leave it pretty much as is. It's too original to mess with (beyond the mods that have already been done). It doesn't need much parts-wise. From looking over all the receipts and new parts, it looks like the seller put about $4500 into it. The whole front brake assembly appears new (new braided line, newish repro? caliper, and nice master). New K&N filter, new throttle cable, new ignition coils and plugs, new IRC tires, and new seat trim. Plus the new Vintage Smoke ignition, new clutch, new pistons, and new crank. The parts, tires and engine rebuild have less than 50 miles on them.

I've added side cover dampers, cylinder & head dampers, airbox lid strap, battery strap, toolkit, quick disconnect shutoff on the tank crossover, new OEM Y-boot, OEM Y-boot clamps, assorted OEM hardware, and replaced some ugly zip ties with the correct OEM straps.

I do need to pull the cylinders to investigate some noise from the top end and while that's apart I'll repaint the cylinders. And I need to pull the pump and check it. While that's out I'll repaint the engine covers and replace the badge on the ignition cover. And the headlight is burned out so I'm doing an H4 LED upgrade.
Should be completely done after that and needing nothing!

In its current state it rips! When it hits about 5500 it pulls like crazy. While riding yesterday I was having a hard time staying on the seat, I kept sliding back.

Plus, a strong running stock looking 350 is a sleeper.  Nice bike and how you got a good buy?
  Cheers, 50gary

Just spoke with the shop that did the rebuild in 2021. The crank is a Vito's and the pistons are Wossners
