Ok I am so not a Kart person but in regards to the craftsmanship this thing is just totally over the top. Read a few of the comments in the BAT ad and one worth mentioning stated it as a piece of karting history, no doubt upon closer inspection in the pics one can see why. It's a head scratcher for me. I truly wanted to just dismiss it as some wild wanky homegrown build given the two motors but gave it a chance and really just amazed at how truly well made she is. Love to hear it run, wish the seller made a video.

Ok just found this old ad (2021) of a 66' that sold on BAT for big money or at least the auction states at 19k...is that what they go for? :umm: well there was a video of the seller firing it up so that's cool to see and hear. I find the differences between this 1966 and the original post of the 1968 interesting, like the gas tanks for example. Not sure what's more original?

If you have never been to a high end kart race, you really should try to find one and go. A friend of mine has that exact kart he races in vintage kart events. If you are in the midwest, there will be a vintage meet in Quincy IL at TNT kart track in August. You guys might be surprised by some of the equipment. Most all of us seem to like 2 strokes, and some of the karts are slick. My sons pictured above is a home built chassis, with help from an engineer friend who has consulted with Porsche america. The kart has a 2 stroke Italian Pavesi 125cc 6 speed liquid cooled, Speed programmable ignition, and an Aprilia racing Dellorto 39mm vhsb nd carb. The kart runs over 140mph when we raced it at Daytona, Charlotte and Atlanta. Lots of fun.

The Margay is an enduro kart and it's a different manufacturer than the Rupp. They're both awesome (and pieces of history).
Depending on the model, engine config, and condition most of vintage racing karts I've seen in the last few years go for between $5K (single engine) and $15K (dual engine).
Although there are a few that brought big money.

Wow, I had no idea.there's a commodity for every toy for sure but it's all good, I'm luving it and learning. Seriously I can see as you point out the difference in the Margay compared the Rupp. If I didn't know better...that Margay maybe a bit more rare?

kramdua
