(not mine)
Looks like Chris is letting one of his old bikes go. Pretty unique! Bummer about the side cover and tank.
The pink slip shows fees paid of $18! Nice decal under the seat :dawg:

SPRING CLEANING
1977 Yamaha RD400 FITTED WITH TZ350 WATEROOLED ENGINE BACK IN 1979

One owner from new ,owner was a Tz250-350 AMA Camel racer back in the 1970-early 80's
The engine was professional fitted during the off season at Yamaha race team as a favor. It was barely ridden for 2years then mothballed in a garage from the early 80's till today .

This is not for the faint hearted or some hipster or I need to ask the wife first or do i need to mix the OIL?
The bike will need to be recommissioned since its been 40yrs .
I have  15-17 Grand prix bikes myself so I am sure this would be a weapon of a bike and very unique as just the engine alone is worth the asking price amd a good Rd400 nowadays is easy 6-10k .

Fox shocks
Krober full ignition system (extremely rare )
Tank is perfect clean but has dents from something falling on it
Rare Charging circuit (lights)

Cons:No kickstand or side stand (mount still intact ) ,push start only ,dent in the tank and side cover (per photo)

I have never seen this done over all my years as a Grand Prix engineer r the years building bikes for wealthy clients  ,mainly due to the cost in doing it and how rare tz350 motor is nowadays.

I came across this post also and thought this bike must be fast and looks like a tight build.

The Red Scourge

Wow, at $8,000 it seems like a steal.  I'm a sucker for race bikes.

I want it too. I can afford the bike but not the divorce action that would follow...

This one may temp many who aren't usually tempted!  :olaf: It had my cogs turning and I like the period blue custom paint job too. Oh, if I were 20 years younger...

Too bad he's not East Coast as he could bring it to the Gap and most likely make a sale.  :olaf: I know some people that are debt free and have some $$.  :help:

Is it not possible to add a kicker with the TZ dry clutch setup?

bitzz

There is no hole in the cover. IIRC there IS holes in the case (I'll check if it's important to ya).
There is an English company that does dry clutch conversions for a RZ (which makes a lot more sense) that uses a Ducati clutch basket... so it IS doable.
