Looks like this bike is going to be back on auction at Iconic next week (Oct 11). The seller has only had it about 3 months. Wonder why the new owner changed his mind so quickly? :umm: It's now located at the Iconic hangar in Santa Monica, and it appears the only thing the current owner did to it was ride 82 miles and pull off the fugly horn contraption.

EDIT: looks like the auction start date is now TBD

Enough armor all on that seat to slip right off.

I'd love to know the story about why the seller is unloading it so quickly and with so few miles ridden.

tires are 14 years old.

also, it didn't wheelie in 6th like they should, so he was probably understandably disappointed.   :dawg:

A few more observations after looking at the photos more closely.
 - Engine and frame numbers don't match but they're both from a '76. Kind of odd that this fact wasn't mentioned in either Iconic listing. When buying a vehicle I would think that something like an engine swap would be of some importance.
 - The oil tank has what appears to be a radiator drain petcock added to the bottom. I presume this is for measuring out oil while out riding since the the pump was removed. Also not mentioned in the very limited description from Iconic.
 - Oil nozzle ports in the carbs appear to have been plugged with epoxy.
 - Shocks appear to be rattle canned black.
Also it's not mentioned if the ignition key works for the other locks.

And the short description under the auction link isn't really too accurate:
"A well-kept example of Yamaha's Iconic lightweight standard!"  Their definition of "well-kept" is certainty different than mine

Sold for less than he paid for it. :dawg:
Yep, and he had to pay Iconic $388 to sell it for him. That was an expensive 3-month 80-mile rental!
The recent sale price is more realistic for the condition. The more I looked it over the more issues I saw with it.
