Race Discussions / CFMoto coming to World SBK
Last post by SoCal250 - December 13, 2025, 11:31:44 AM
There are reports that Chinese manufacturer CFMoto is planning on competing in World Superbike in 2027, now that that they have launched their new V4 superbike, the V4SR-RR. In addition to bringing in some top engineering talent including a former Ducati engineer, the company has signed Italian former Moto3 rider and 2019 MotoE champion Matteo Ferrari as a test rider.

The arrival of CFMoto into World Superbike would make it the fourth Chinese manufacturer to be present in the WorldSBK paddock after QJMotor, Kove, and ZXMoto, the latter joining WorldSSP for the first time in 2026.

it came stock with them, the extra master and section of chain. the large sprocket is dished so as you tighten the 4 bolts up, it lines up. its a bit manual & rudimentary, but very clever.  I never use the big sprocket but have ridden w it. its a wheelie machine in 1st gear and won't go over like 30 mph maxed out in 4th. lol ive had it sort of off road once, its dismal in anything but a relatively smoothed paved area.   lets be honest, its a mid 60s designed camping bike.

re: dual range sprockets. Always wondered if alignment between CS and rear sprockets would cause a chain problem? Seemed like a good idea at the time but wouldn't it necessitate carrying a separate length of chain + Master links to change on the fly when you are out and about. Would kind of take the cool factor out of it for me.

The 4-Stroke Blasphemy Forum / Desert ride to see the metal g...
Last post by SoCal250 - December 13, 2025, 12:32:58 AM
Yesterday I jumped on the trusty FZ and headed out at 8am to meet up with my friend John on his BMW R9T Racer in Fountain Valley for a day-ride adventure to the desert.

We headed south on the 405 through morning rush hour traffic, then merged onto the 5-South and crossed into San Diego County. Just after Camp Pendleton we headed east on the 76 from Oceanside toward the town of Pala. Highway 76 was just recently paved and the winding country road is smooth as glass and a total blast to ride. Traffic was light since it was Thursday.
After passing Lake Henshaw we turned north on the 79 and then hung a right onto San Felipe Road and then Montezuma Valley Road over the mountains and down into the valley and the town of Borrego Springs. That whole section of the ride was awesome riding (from 76 all the way through Montezuma Valley Rd) with lots of twists and turns and great scenery.

Our reason for the trek was to see the large metal sculptures (there are 130 in total) that are scattered around the area. Prior to the trip I made of list of the best ones to see and easiest to access so we could get in as many as possible in our limited time out there. The Galleta Meadows sculptures, known as Sky Art, were created by artist Ricardo Breceda. They were commissioned by Dennis Avery (heir to the Avery label fortune, who died in 2012) on land he owned in the area.

We decided to split our visit in two parts. Before grabbing lunch we visited a few of the sculptures south of town. Most of them are fairly close to the road but we had to do a little off-roading on our street bikes to get to them.

After a delicious lunch at a place called Red Ocotillo, we headed north of town to see some of the others we had on our list. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend Red Ocotillo, which is right in the center of town on the traffic circle. The food was great.

And the best one of the collection (and the most famous) is the serpent, which is actually in several pieces and stretches on both sides of Borrego Springs Rd, making it appear as if it's diving under the pavement. It's 350 feet long!

It was an awesome day! The round trip ended up being exactly 300 miles and a very long day. The last couple hours was in the dark, and I arrived back home about 7:30pm.  (Note to self: next time don't wear a dark tinted shield for an all-day trip or at least pack a second clear one.)

Turning Wrenches / 67c2tr upgrades /cdi

few things on this I've been wanting to take care of, for years.

1st thing was the ignition. always wanted a cdi on it, but the crank end is an odd size. bought a vape for a ke125 and while the stator works, the stock crank taper is smaller than most. its a 3 year 1 model motor, so odd.  working with economy cycle and vape directly, a suitable rotor was decided upon after test fitting and me 3d printing different taper adapters and relaying I info back to vape directly . the rotor that will work will be on way next week.

also, I bought all nos rear sprocket parts to replace the stock dual sprocket setup. tgis is a weird one, so I thought olid post up a few pics of the new bits. yes, the large sprocket moves out for offroad gearing.

Quote from: teazer on December 12, 2025, 03:20:15 PMI used an alloy repo caliper with alloy pistons instead.

That is what's on the bike with the drilled dual rotors I posted on the first page.

There is a brand new coil on it. Had never taken it for a long enough ride with the old coil to compare the shut down symptom. So, there's that.
