Unless somebody already knows of a source doing this, I need a picture of any USA RD400 white VIN frame sticker sent to a person who makes reproductions. He currently makes them for Yamaha Enduros, but needs a pic of an RD400 label. Mine was blasted off in frame prep, even though it was covered in 3 layers of red duct tape and I specifically requested that it be left intact!  :bang:

If you can help make this happen for all of us, please send a good picture of a VIN sticker to:
Yamaha@nc.rr.com

Thanks in advance, and let us know if you've sent it along to the address above.

Once he has the template this will be a great resource. Only the build date would need to be determined. I'm not aware of anyone else in the US offering these for the RD400.

I may be interested in this as well since both of my RD400s had the sticker removed by the PO.

Yes, his labels are well reviewed on the Yamaha Enduro Owner's Facebook page. I'm confident that somebody here will have a well preserved example that can provide the template.

I might be able to help.
I have a all original 78 RD400E with 11,000 miles never restored other than resealed the engine cases which I did 12 years ago now.
The bike is currently in storage.
I'm leaving in a few days to get ready for Deals Gap 2 stroke meet so it will be a couple of weeks before I can go and at least look to see if I can get a clean shot of it as the bike is all together.
Send me an email about the middle of may.

The same guy made repro vin tags for my 77 400 and did a fabulous job. Looks exactly like the original. Even the same paper. Pic of one of the stickers I got from him is below.

He did a '76 VIN decal for me, maybe he doesn't want to assume the '76 and '77 are identical other than the date of manufacture.

Interesting, and confusing. He responded to my inquiry by saying he had not done an RD400 label and needed a picture. This is the same person who did the one above- I'm not sure what the problem is.

Same guy. I checked the email thread between him and I and confirmed he's the same. Maybe he forgot. [emoji2369]

Sorted. He looked at the wrong file or something, and still does offer them for RD400's. Thanks Jeff for sending me the pics and for the help. This thread might help somebody else looking for the same thing.

I have that one saved on my watch list. I am only missing the approximate build date on my Daytona. I accidentally deleted all of my photos on my previous cell phone and I lost all of the photos. I figured I could probably base the build date off of a close to mine VIN number.
