Head stock Lock removal

Has this been discussed before? I searched but found nothing.
I need to remove this before I send the frame off for blasting and coating.
Oh BTW. No key.

the little cover just has a pin holding it in that can be prised out carefully.
With out a key you will have to drill out the lock part.
They are not easy to get out even wit a key after being in there for soo long

Yes, even with a key mine would not come out. Decided to just leave it be.

nope. tape over it before sending to powder coater. will survive ok

You should be able to find a new old stock one on ebay.

Mine melted remember? If I remembered the post I'd link to it.

I just closed the cover and pretended I didn't see it. Lol don't know how I'd get it out now.

I have one that did my Mustang and even a tractor lock for me.
Honestly I didn't even think of that..duh.

I've had good luck with NOS Yamaha pre-cut keys off Ebay. As posted above just order by stamped lock number

If you end up drilling it out and need a replacement assembly & key, those are avialable too in either OEM NOS or repro. Check Ebay.
