Missing one of the two brass nipples in the lower right hand corner.  Can't find a part number or replacement for these and I hate spending $75 for a new petcock (this one is rusty but after a few cycles in the ultrasonic and some fresh gaskets it will work fine.)

Or....  Is there an aftermarket petcock available that lines up with the mounting holes?

Or.... Option 3.... plug the existing hole and add a T to the fuel line on the other side?

if you have a spare carb, pull the inlet nipple out as it will press into the petcock. option 3 isnt a great one  :twocents:

I've got a set of spare carbs off of a 929RR.  I'll check if the nipple size is the same but I'm not holding my breath......

I've got a bunch of other carbs but wouldn't consider them "spare."  They're in boxes for "projects" that may, some day (who am I kidding) go back together.

i seriously doubt 929 carbs will have that size on them, they tend to need a lot more fuel.  I was referring to vintage stuff.
to get it running, you can use one outlet but? it probably wont starve.

"Probably won't starve" isn't very reassuring to me. Starving means leaning out which means...a lot of money and time spent on things that could've been prevented if done properly. I'm sure someone on here has a spare carb they'd sell you if you asked. Hell, I have a set of VM28s that are already jetted for a RD with mods if you wanted to buy them.  My .02, do it right the first time.

well...

the orifice in the petcock 4 hole seal is the same size as one outlet. so... it probably will be ok.

my opinion, id replace it. ir buy a complete used one on ebay and rebuild it.  but to just get running see if its ok, id try it. ive done way worse for initial testing.  :dawg:

i have a spare or 2 junk petcock bodies laying around, i can prob dig a fitting out and mail it to you. pm me if interested (not looking for $)

Damn -- can't pass that offer up!  I'll shoot you a PM and we can work something out.

Why was I ranting about carbs? Jesus, I must be tired. Sorry 😂

Fairly certain there is a NOS petcock at the shop.  The shop belongs to a friend and he doesn't think he'll be back in for a couple of weeks.  (The shop is closed and is now his man cave.)  Let me know if you're interested and I'll see what he would want for it.  I pretty sure I have a used one that is missing one outlet.  I could probably be persuaded to let it go... Yep! Although I may have started my build a bit backwards.... My first thought was clean up the fuel system and carbs and make it run. But then I got bored waiting for parts and started cleaning, and taking things apart to clean them better, and now I've gotten pretty far away from the initial goal of seeing this thing run.

More posts to come soon!

I've tried the "T" method, it didn't work out too well.

A good friend of mine just randomly send me this yesterday and it reminded me of this thread.
Pretty slick idea, eh?
