After market cranks- opinions and experiences

I'm going to be bringing home all my long stored RDs in the near future and 3 project bikes need cranks and 2 spare motors I might build up as well. I'm in a virtual machine shop desert here in rural SW Colorado- unless you're talking Stock cars. Most direct way to get this moving is purchase aftermarket for at least the 1st 1 or 2 builds unless I install a good used crank I carefully saved- but not sure how good labyrinth seal may be there?

I've bought many parts from this seller for my MX & YZ vintage bikes over the years and was happy with parts I got. Of course, there's also Vito's but more expensive. Couple years back there was a company in Taiwan selling new manufactured cranks on Ebay at reasonable cost with many good reviews but don't know what happened to them.

I don't have endless budget for this stuff and multiple motors to fix so looking for best bang for my buck here initially. Any thoughts or direct experience to share here? Sorry if there's already a thread on this but haven't fully explored the site being a recent member easing back into the street bike world after decades of VMX.

I put a Vito's in my last RZ build. My motor guy said it checked out fine, and unless I was going racing (which I'm not) it should work just fine. I wanted to build the crank with all Yamaha stuff but it would have been twice as much!

have on in the lc, checked out to near perfect runout. have another version in the lightweight, been going strong for 5? years.

mark, you have Vitos or the other 1 sold by HPR seller on eBay I linked above?

one of each but i swear they come out of the same factory, or at least have the same main components used.

I have 2 Vitos cranks in RZ350's. One only has about 200 miles but the other one about 2000. They both have performed as they should.

I got an HPR one and it tested nearly perfect for run out, impressive. Not used it yet but can't see it being an issue. They're not welded, if you prefer that.

My vito's is still going strong in my 350. My plan is to have the stock crank done and replace the vito's when it's time to do a top end. Then I will check the vito's and either put it on the shelf or have it rebuilt.

I had my Vito's crank rebuilt by Ed Toomey at 2500 miles after two top end failures. But, Ed told me the rods that came on it were beefy enough to beat nails into house framing lol.

great info to help my decision making. Since there's real world good experience with both cranks here and the HPR is $81.00 cheaper with shipping + taxes included, I'll likely go that way for a couple initial rebuilds of spare motors I can install and run while completely going thru the trashed motors with frame matching VINs later.

I've got a Vito's crank in my RD350 but I've not been able to really put any miles on it yet because the "professional and experienced" shop that did the engine work for the previous owner really screwed things up. When I get time to go through it thoroughly to correct all their mistakes and get it sorted, I'll be putting some miles on it. Way too many projects currently!
