I have a pair of Wicked pipes on my 400, definitely better than the DGs that were on it before with good power all around, also like the look of them but its a preference. They have nice little billet silencers and headers. Haven't tried out Spec IIs but I'm sure they are worth the wait.

If I was buying pipes for an RD, I'd be looking at the K2tec Type2 from Webike.

USD is still really strong against the JPY, so they are a pretty good deal at the moment and usually arrive in less than two weeks.

Jim,

id try a set IF they made them for a 350. I mean, 400 chambers work ok on a 350 but still.

I have a set for the TZR, the build quality is really, really good.

Yeah, I think the OP is looking for 400 pipes. Yes, build quality is great, but I don't think the T1 with the constant radius headpipes are all that performance oriented. For my KH400 they were the only thing available and I had no complaints about'em.

Mark has mild steel K2tec T1 pipes on his 1KT/2MA TZR. They are very well made, inexpensive, and available off the shelf with quick shipping from Japan here: https://japan.webike.net/products/21574228.html

For 2x the $$$ the T2 are available as well.  Probably make a bit more power. K2tec is very well regarded in the Japanese tuning mags, but no dyno charts are available, so the performance really is unknown.

https://japan.webike.net/products/21574205.html

Similarly, they are also available for the aircooled '76+ RD250/400, RZ350(LC), and RZ350R(RZ), TZR 3MA/3XV and Kawasaki triples in multiple versions including crossover and GP exit.

Whichever version you choose, they are well worth the $$$ and way better than DG's.

K2tec website:  https://k2-tec.com/

K2tec full range of products:  https://k2tec.cart.fc2.com/

Good place to see what's available, but prices are better from Webike.

yup. about 700 usd for the better set for the TZR, which puts me into martins pipe range.

I'll be honest, if they made a set for an aircooled 350 id buy a set. I still would think the specII pipes would probably make more power, i have zero complaints on the set of specIIs on the lightweight.

the DGs are a good set of $350-400 dollar pipes, maybe, for the price point, but they sure dont make any decent power.

On the K2tec pipe description (https://www.moto-works.jp/k2tec/rd400.html) this caught my eye:
Carburetor jetting is not needed for street use.
For use in racetrack, where prolonged high rev situation is necessary, increasing main jet setting is recommended.

Seems a little odd that a "performance pipe" would not require a jetting change.

I do like these though:

the tzr ones didnt need rejetting either. TBH, they didn't change much power wise, at all, so went back to the stock pipes on it.

Thanks again to everyone for taking the the time respond.

Gary's number is 747-257-5129 as Jspooner wrote.

He's still making pipes, 73 years old it takes him awhile (months). If you want pipes fast, you might want to check with others.

Gary's work is excellent.
