Hi folks!
Currently, even w/o the key the seat lock does let go the seat latch when the lever is pushed.

My understanding is that on putting in the key and:-
   a. Turning clockwise it should release the helmet lock and
   b. turning anti-clockwise it should release the seat lock.

But if not, the seat cannot be removed. Is that a correct statement?

This is what my lock looks, top-right has missing pieces and no keys. The bottom left one is on the bike currently and got keys to it but even w/o the key in, the seat comes out each time lever is pressed.

What am I missing here?

Appreciate any pointers. Thanks in advance!

Everything seems correct on how you think it should work. How about the idea that the hook on the seat is not being pushed hard enough down into the locking mechanism to make it catch and latch. Mine does that.

Thanks for the prompt response. I will try again but what I did (before posting this) is take out the lock and press it as much as I can into the seat latch with seat upside down on workbench. While it did  catch and latch, as soon as I push the lever it releases it and that is w/ or w/o the key inserted.

I went ahead and bought a RD350 LC lock w/ a key which has different part numbers and a tad bit different in looks but fits the same.

In comparison, I see all parts are same internally. Gets me to conclusion that either my seat pan is low enough to latch on or has an issue with the lock itself  :umm:

Left is RZ350 and right one is RD350 LC from 82.
