Quote from: m in sc on November 01, 2025, 09:45:02 PMall the mechanical work was completed, little fussy things like side stand spring     :science:  relocation and spacing pipes but basically, minor but important detail stuff. and one massively stuck chole plunger assembly i had to absolutely destroy to get out of the 'new' carb (that sat forever from the seller), luckily i had a large PWK/Keihin one on hand to replce it with.

tomorrow: tuning day.  :burnout:

Mark did a beautiful job on the side stand mod.:patriot:
Clears like a champ now. And thanks to his wizardry with a dental burr the broken and stuck LH choke assembly is replaced with one from his parts stash. All told a little over 2 hours on the initial fire up, pipe spacing and side stand mod.

the choke issue was a mechanically stuck one, it wouldnt move. if anything it was sealed closed.

those pipe are made specifically for +4mm stroke non-power valve cyls so im sure they will work fine in that application. as far as regualr rz cyls w stock stroke... probably not so much

Mark worked his magic today and the Gray Ghost is sorted. A couple of minor changes to the Zeeltronic curve, one clip position change on the needles and  a couple of airscrew adjustments and the carburetion is linear. Mark drilled, counter-bored and tapped the slide stop screw on the RH carb to move the screw from inside to outside for easy idle adjustment.
The power delivery is smooth and once the tach hits 7000 you need to be hanging on. Power wheelies are at will in 1st through 3rd gear with 17-40 stock RZ gearing. Acceleration is brutal. 70 miles of flogging yielded 25 MPG. That being said it very rideable and pulls from idle in any gear. Thank you so much Mark!!

Awesome update. Man is that going to be a hoot to ride.

Have followed this one, awesome to see it come together. I no longer own an RZ (sold it to 2Steve), but the big bore/pipes/ignition combination seems a really solid dare I say dream build for an RZ.

Haase installed Zeeltronic curve switch  for every day and safe mode for hot weather and hard running.

Glad you got it all together and sorted. They are soo much fun to ride and piss off teslas with the crazy acceleration. (There are a lot of teslas here driven by complete asshats)

I was recently in LA visiting in-laws. Not only do they have a Tesla, there's like 3 on every block and very common in traffic (also very common). Lots of virtue signaling out there and so glad we escaped when we could

Thank you all for the kind words. And the biggest thank you of all to M in SC and his beautiful wife for having me and the Gray Ghost as guests in thier home.
Thanks to Mark as always for his work and expertise throughout the process of the build, tuning and fabrication and for his patience answering my endless questions. Not to mention the great food, great fellowship and stellar rides through the countryside. You are the best. :patriot:  :patriot:

was our pleasure. pics to come but heres a long ride video, i took a bunch. this was on the 72 T500 w Tim chasing he could have easily blown past me at any time but we were just running in some miles on the RZ, and the weather was just stellar. Yes, that RZ is stupid fast and quick.
