I am hunting for an R1-Z, and may have found one here in the PacNW.  I've never ridden one, or even seen one in person, but I think they're cool.

Based on the early TZR250 engines, detuned slightly from what I understand?

Anybody spend any time around them, or know anybody who can tell me what to look for before I spend a bunch of money on another bike I certainly don't need?

I found a pic of one a few years ago that I used as inspiration for my project. Build thread here:

I have never seen one in the wild. You should definitely get it
Good luck!

Yeah, TDR is another one I'd love to own, but also super hard to find.

I knew I'd get positive emotional support here!

Besides, it looks like something that you do need so you can run out and get groceries.

A R1-Z was shipped from OK with my TZR, and may have been heading to a collector in WI -

Yes, I will have to build a small rear rack to help justify the purchase.

I believe Richard Dunkin in OK still has a TDR or two available.

R1Z is basically a naked sport standard style 1KT. Super reliable engine in a cool trellis frame chassis. Arguably still the rarest of that generation Yamaha twin 2T in the states.

Wasting time on 2T forums since the dawn of the internet. '89 TDR250, '23 300xcw, '24 Street Triple RS, '56 Porsche 356A, '88 325is '89 560SL. Too many toys.
