So, I finally got around to doing the R1 shock conversion on the TZR. went with an R1 shock instead of the R6, as the eye to eye was closer to stock , and the side reservoir seemed to be a better fit.  Only interference was it slightly rubbed the inside of the chain guard, and i just trimmed that.

Bought a junk 1kt shock off e-bay for the spring, so my original is still in-tact.

made 2 10mm id x 5mm long spacers for the top eye, and made a 30mm bushing for the bottom.  bottom dims are 12mm id, 17mm od, and 30mm long. I made it out of 316SS on the lathe and it fits perfect.

Pics below show the install and the adjustments accessibility w bodywork on.

I measured my stock shock preload settings and set the r1 shock to the same amount as a start since thats really related to the spring rate. since they are the same should be very close of not spot on. measured 30mm sag with me on it

as it sits now:

so, i asked about these and nonone seems to know what make they actually are (in another thread somewhere) that being said, im finally going to try to get these on and see how they actually work.  my plan is to go up 1 on the main jet, leave the rest alone as a starting point. i have a nice set of new tyga silencers to go on as well, as the ones that came w the pipes are very cool but VERY short. hopefully they perform a bit better than the stock pipes,  which actuallyperform really well. just eyebaling them im thinking there might be some midrange improvements. not sure. never know until i try. worst case they go up for sale.

Those pipes look a million times better painted properly  Whomever had painted them red before probably shouldn't be allowed to work on mechanical things  :umm:

Slight detour on the topic here, but in your opening post when you got the TZR there's a 4-door Ford in the driveway. Is that like 66-68 Fairlane with 289 and 4 spd in it? I always wanted a Comet Caliente that looks very similar. Both really rare nowadays.

I love it  :swoon: Thanks for sharing. I had a 1964 Falcon Ranchero 289 w 3 on a tree. Converted it to floor shift using Mario Andretti kit from Checkers auto I think. Before I bought that 1 I passed on a similar Ranchero a guy shoved a built Chevy 327 and 4 spd into. Swapped rear end, headers through the fender walls, etc. I drove it and while it was a blast it was just too much car for what I wanted at the time and not sure of the guy's skills that built it. Would love to have a 74/75? Falcon Sprint someday but I'm supposed to be downsizing my project collection not adding!
