I was fiddling around jetting on my 85 RZ350 and removed the snorkel & air-duct partition in the stock airbox when I suddenly lost spark. It may very well be that the old ignition coil gave up although I'm yet to get conclusive result. However, I wanted to see the consensus on what a good replacement is since original is NLA.

Economy Cycle has Dynatek:

Yambits has a cheaper plug-n-play:

TIA!

Zeeltronic sell coils too, that Im pretty sure are exactly the same as Nology and PVL

TeeZee

Thanks guys for all the quick responses.

I put back everything together and magically it fires up. It's still baffling to not know what went wrong although I don't see any wires pinched or anything. For now it works but I will soon need one just due to it's age.

sure it wasnt the cdi box? i have zero trust in 40+ year old electronics except for super basic shit like switches. 0.02

TeeZee

Agreed, these are too old now to be trusted for long trips and stuff. I'm gonna keep an eye on CDI too and perhaps plan a budget for it.

I don't do more than 50 mile trips around town so I will see how long before it dies out.

this is the reason why basically the 1st thigg i did was a zeeltronic and coil on the tzr. ran fine. didnt trust it.

TeeZee

Just got back after a quick run of 30 miles, happy to report it's running fine sans a dead spot from 3.5 to 4.5k rpm which is jetting issue as I understand.
