Let's just say this sleds been an interesting machine to tackle. The 200 dollar special motor runs. Just need this little bit of snow to give her a few test passes before we drag her up north to hit the trails.

Also, I have crazy friends who build homemade cans and stick the pipe out the tub of the sled... without asking where I wanted to run the pipe.  :patriot:
Oh well, let's hope the DNR don't mind it as much as I do with their noise ordinances! Yes that's a cherry bomb. Yes I okayed doing the pipe.... but did not okay the extra access hole in the side of my machine.

Certainly. This picture was when I first got the track extensions, new 136" track, all rebuildable HPG shocks, and sc-10 suspension put in it.  Now shes a pretty big rust pile compared to then.

Here's when I blew it up off trail 2 leaving St. Ignace in the upper peninsula. I'm glad I gave my truck keys to my buddy as he had to hop on 75 and pass 3 exits plus another 10 mile drove down a main road to find me!

Also, here's when I first bought it and found out the motor alignment was way off. It turns out when you blow a belt they leave a bunch of pieces inside your sled... forever it seems lol.

I have always wanted to ride one. Loved 2 stroke dirt bikes and this would be a blast. I need to make that happen soon.

Sleds are a great 2 stroke fix for winters here in Michigan. Haven't had enough snow here in Southern Michigan to ride mine this year.

Yea we just got an inch lol. Michigan is not the same as it used to be years back for snow.

Well to put it in perspective for you. I'm gonna brag a bit here about Michigan.

This is the only state in the union with over 3000 miles of public snowmobile trails. In the lower peninsula (mitten) they stretch down the west coast and across to the east coast a bit.
But the serious riding can be found in the upper peninsula.

You can get anywhere you want in the UP by a snowmobile. Not even joking. Just about the entire UP is connected in some way by a snowmobile trail. Whether it's an old converted railroad grade like trail 2 was I blew up on, or a trail snaking through the woods. It's truly a snowmobilers haven.

Look at fishweb.com and check out their snowmobile trail report and maps.

Wow, dream come true for me. When I was 16-17 living in CA there were places to ride my dirt bike all over. not all 100% legal but miles of trails. that went away. Moved to GA and you have to join a club or go to a track. Not a fan of tracks. I will look into this for sure.

Sleds are big fun. In a perfect world, you'd have a street bike, a dirt bike, a sled and a watercraft and be able to jump on and ride from your house. They're all about turnin' and burnin'   8)

Well I'm probably going to go snowmobiling the 15th. I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures as I go to give you an idea at least how the lower is.

In may I think im gonna chance a spot to camp and come down to NC for the meet. If I see you there we can chat about it. Most towns have hotels that rent sleds. Usually around 250 to 300 for 24 hours but you're on mostly new or a few year old sleds. Those all make my 98 ski doo look painful to ride... which it is lol.

I will be there for sure. Looking forward to it if you make it.

The UP of Michigan is truly snowmobile heaven. Go anywhere, ride fast but stay on your side of the trail.

You can camp at the Deal's Gap site. The grass is pretty damp usually so bring a nice tarp to put under your tent. They charge something like $15 a night. There are electrical hookups, showers, and a couple picnic tables. Also a firepit with wood provided and park-style BBQ. Ice is available at the restaurant. Hopefully it doesn't rain. But that is very likely in this part of the U.S.

I did this the first year I rented a snowmobile I think it was 2012.  https://youtu.be/jv5qhtw_Z1Y
Not me in the video but it was one hell of a riot! No one but a few locals and snowmobilers in the island. Got picture of arch rock, lake frozen up etc.

Ir8d8r I will come prepared on all counts. I have a lot of camping experience :).

Edit: Fixed the link lol. Rode the sled to Mackinac Island and of course this is not my video, just giving you an idea what it's like to ride across a large chunk of Lake Huron.
