Finally realized one of my long term plans. Decided to run individual pods and make the factory air box into a storage compartment.

I cut out the baffles (for lack of better terms) and removed the bottom opening. Then welded a piece of baffle to close the bottom in. A little trimming around the top and this is the result.

Hmm interesting and why not? Why compromise performance for a bit of practicality? I'm still running the stock airbox just because I like the cavity between it and the tank for my plugs and socket/ratchet. Also going with it as I feel the bike is in a pretty decent state of tune as of now, I just didn't wanna buy more jets and fiddle with it. It's now one of three bikes I can ride and free time to ride is a commodity, LOL.

good idea.

get rid of those filters . flat back = NO BUENO. get all foam ones.  :twocents:

Would love to Mark. Not sure what to get at the moment. Originally had the ones I sold you, but they were really tight in there. These fit a lot better. Any recommendations?

thats what i was going to say. the outer filter is no bueno. the metal backed ones wont tune right.

Thanks. I think these are the first filters I tried. They were smashed in there a bit tight and when angled up, they would interfere with the storage box.

Did a little more searching this morning and found UNI UP-4182. 2.75" OD and 4" long. Going to try these I think.

The 4182 are straight. 4182AST in my post above are angled 15*. If you want single layer and angled you'll need 4182A  :twocents:
