R5/RD fork interchangeable parts.

 To be more certain of what fits what.. I pose this to all members..
Do RD  inner fork tubes actually work in R5 lower legs?
The part numbers are different..

yes. I have rd inners on my 70. including rod and tubes

Ok.. thank you.. I had checked the parts books.. they listed them with different part numbers so I was not sure..

But you have to use RD upper triple clamps with the RD fork tubes.  The R5 top of the R5 tubes is gently tapered and pulled into the triple clamp by the top cap while the RD tube is straight and is held in place by a bolt and nut.  I am not sure about the size of the triple clamps; maybe the R5 and RD have the same dimensions, maybe not.  My memory is not that good.  The R5 could be narrower.

drum brake front trees are 10mm narrower but the fork tubes will slide in.

Nothing wrong with that, don't want to buy wrong part(s).

i mean, thats why this place exists. :) but yes, you can put r5 lowers on rd fork stanchions, even use the rd internals etc and they will work.
