I mentioned in a thread a while back that I have a bike that has this old ignition on it. My plans are to upgrade the ignition after the summer, just want to just make sure this is working properly. I found some old threads (2010) from another board where the person who built this went over his install. I can post that thread if need be. He mentions that he thought the pie cuts were too small and that Mark told him he might want to cut them open more. That leads me to my first question, and since this is Marks design, i guess these will be put forth to you... The pie cuts.. It's obvious that one is bigger than the other, is there a reason for that, and are they too small?
Mark, in another thread you showed that you produced a bunch of the "pie cut" devices, have any left? Or do I even need to go that route?
Many more questions to come, as usual.

i didn't make them uneven, somebody else did after the fact,  they should be the same, i did all the pie cut ones on a mill. match the narrower one to the wider one.

the ONLY reason they were cut wider was so they wouldn't start backwards, same reason Nick has 3 magnets in the dyna setup he sells.

Thx, will do.
Timing question. I only rode this bike twice before I tore it somewhat apart and it ran pretty well, but what do I know. Timing has not been changed. I have an old craftsman's dial back timing light. Can I set the dial back to a tad under 19 degrees and go that route? Last but not least, in that pix do I loosen the two Phillips on the right side to adjust timing. Sorry, never done it before.

yes and yes, but the stock timing marks on the alternator are at 2.00mm btdc, or 19.9 degrees, not TDC, so no need to use the dial back feature.

Is there a way to set timing using the dial back if I want 1.8 using the stock 2mm scribe? I don't have a gauge yet. Or can one somewhat eyeball 1.8 as I think in your video it states that 1.8 is the trailing edge of the V cut into the alt?

yes, you can, but you need a tdc mark which you dont have.
I assume you are familiar with automotive timing, so since there is no TDC '0' mark, you have to go by the stock one , at 2.00 mm which correlates to 19.92 degrees. at 1.8, the degrees are 18.88, so, you would have to go backwards which most dial backs can't do that, because that would fuck up the space time continuum. lol.
Its 1.04 degrees retarded. so, unless you can get a dial gauge in there and make a TDC mark, just aim for the trailing edge of the mark.
