Thanks to M in SC for teaching me the right way to synch carbs after all the years I was doing it just good enough to get by and helping me for hours to try to make the fancy Vitos intake work on the RZ. Today after trying to run the Dragon with the off idle stutter for one too many times, I got good and pissed off, came back to the rental house, took the billet intake off and resisted the urge to sling it into the woods :bang:  :bang:
I cleaned up the gasket surfaces on the reed blocks, which I did not disturb and installed the factory style intakes with a new gasket and Permatex Anerobic sealer. Then I reinstalled the factory crossover, bent the clutch arm down to clear the VM30s, reinstalled them with 40 pilots as they were before, set the airscrews to 3/4 turn out where they were before the rebuild and fired it up. I had to adjust the idle screws about 3/4 of a turn to get the idle back to 1500 and took it out for a test ride. Ran perfect. Long story short, I should have left well enough alone. I am certain the Vitos intake with internal crossover is perfect for anther application, perhaps a Banshee, but it wouldn't work for me on a street ridden ported RZ motor.

I gave up on the Dynojet needle and main jets after 4 tries on my stock carbs. It ran so weird I couldn't figure out if it was rich or lean. Put the oem needle and a Mikuni 240 main jet in and it runs fine now.

it's just the way I prefer to do it.  lift throttle till the slides are both even with top of venturi.  use mirror/feel. when they are even up top, THEN using your right hand, touch both slides and get them to lift off throttle stops crews at same time by adjusting the screws.  then you turn them upon down equal amounts together to set speed. done
