Looks like a fun build.  I admire your ingenuity.

Crank seals are new.  I pressure tested it on assembly and it held air.  I'll just keep throwing fuel at it as long as that makes improvements.

The 270 jets seem to have eliminated 90% of the pinging.  I'll keep moving upward.  Based on that jetting spreadsheet, the bike needs more fuel than everyone else uses.  Wonder why?

Then I ain't oiling mine either.  There's an Outerwear sock already on the way to my house, I'll use it just because.

Interesting to hear that others don't oil the Uni filter.  That was the direction I was going but I figured it's good insurance on an expensive top end.

You fellows using pods on the carb or a bigger one on the Y boot?

What's your budget?

I'd hone them first and see what they look like.  Measure them and go from there. If you don't ride much or very hard, maybe you can go STD bore.

Obviously, a fresh bore sized to the pistons will always get great results.

I emailed Outerwears.  This was their reply:

"Yes you can, but you are better off using a dry foam filter."

I'm going to give it a go.  I just don't want that nasty, oily filter exposed.  I'm using a 3-3/4 x 5" round filter.

It's just that the filter oil is soooooo darn messy and sticky.  I see that Toomey offers a Uni/Outerwear combo.  I suppose it will be OK as long as I don't over oil.

Turning Wrenches / air filters

Right now I'm using a Y boot with an unoiled Uni filter.  No air box.  My plan is to oil the Uni and put an Outerwear sock on it.  That way the filter oil won't get all over the bike.  I'm kinda worried that the filter oil will gum up the Outerwear.

Thoughts?  Better ideas?

VHT header paint.  I mean, that's what it's made for.

I've never been on a surf board but if I had one, that would be IT!

I've sold a couple vehicles on Ebay.  I live in Ohio.  One was a Sportster that went for about $4k and was shipped to Washington.  The other a Camaro that went for about $8k and it went to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Both transactions were over 10 years ago and I don't recall what I had for lunch today.  Can't help much with details of the transaction.  Both buyers sent some down payment via Paypal.  I think the guy who bought the bike sent me a cashier's check or something for the balance.  The remainder of the car payment was made by bank transfer.

It wasn't my responsibility to get the car to Canada but I do believe that there were two shippers involved.

The guy who bought the bike nearly died of a head injury when the bike was delivered.  There was a bad snow storm and he slipped and fell on his way out the door to meet the delivery truck.

Gary did the top end on my bike @ Stage II.  I reasoned his F1 pipes would be a good compliment.  I'm pleased with it all.

He's a character to deal with, talked my ear off on nearly every call. At one point, he was telling me his family history.  I'm not kidding.  I kept thinking that if he had someone to handle phone calls, he could get twice as much machine work done.

I'm using B9 plugs already.  Just 270 jets to try.  Hope to get a nice day to do a little more tuning.

I imagine silicone would stop the leak but wouldn't that make the pipes hard to remove?  Or reinstall?
