Rd400 fork assembly wtf

Yeah so, thought it was a quick and easy job..
Apparently iam an idiot 😅

I Cant get the buttom bolt to catch the thread Inside the fork tube

I beleieve i have even tried every combi..
Makes No sense, done it for hours 😅

Its the right bolt as this was Taking apart of a functioning fork 8 months ago..

take spring and cap off, insert broom handle.turn fork upside down, press down on assembly . start thread by hand with hex key. if hole isnt lining up, use a cross-head screwdriver, carefully, to align through hole. if that wont work, check make sure threads on bolt or rod arent damaged.

This is basically what i have been doing, just Cant hack it it seems haha.
So wierd i really dont get it

Thread a stud into the inner fork tube thingme. Or cut the head off a long bolt and use that
Drop the inner thingme into the fork lower so the stud sticks out of the hole.
Jam broom handle in to hold it in place and flip it upside down
Remove the stud and screw in the bolt.
Don't forget the copper washer and anneal it before you use it.

Yes, but no....

That's the bottom of the stanchion but where's the damper rod and the tapered bottom part?  Take out the damper rod and if it has the bottom part still fitted, slip it off and slide the damper rod back all the way through the fork leg and then refit the bottom hydraulic stop ( the 1" tall aluminum part.

So what about that tapered alu piece at the end of the damper rod?
Do I fit that after from the buttom or? 🤔🤔

Ahh this must be right.
Done it like this and up the buttom of the fork tube

Kind of easy to pull the inner tube upwards and out because the snap ring gives..

It came together nicely until the spring came in and Cap

Snap ring in the buttom gave away and it could be puller apart..

Anyone?

This is how it is put together in the buttom. Held in place by snapring, minus the aluminium piece Which sits in the buttom of the lower leg
