It's official. Rossi held a special press conference today to announce that he will retire at the end of the season.
So that means Austin in October is your last chance to see him race in the US (that's if they don't cancel it again)

There are now two Yamaha seats to fill between the Factory team and Petronas with Rossi retiring and Vinales walking out. Morbidelli willl probably move from Petronas up to the factory team to join Quartararo, and Bezzecchi is a rumored rider to move into Petronas, but that still leaves one seat open.

He's had an amazing career, imagine racing guys that were in diapers (or just a twinkle in their parents eyes) when you started.

from COTA:

One Last Rodeo for Rossi

Valentino Rossi's Final US Race Will Be Held at COTA on October 3rd

Over an illustrious career spanning more than a quarter of a century, Rossi has carved out a legendary record that will be hard to match or surpass, either on-track or off. Nine World Championships, 115 wins and 235 podiums, and being the only competitor in history to win titles in the 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP™ categories, mean Rossi's name will forever appear in the sport's record books.

His unique brand of charisma, speed, race craft and world domination – plus a dash of rock and roll – have made the Italian something more than a rider. The 'Doctor' has become an icon.

Witness history being made on October 3rd when Rossi dances with COTA's 20 turns one final time at the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas.

Long live the king!

He's been a great inspiration, I hope his next ventures are as successful.

Although I enjoyed watching his art in riding, I will not miss the race announcers saying Rossi every other word.
"Love 'em all.... Let GOD sort 'em out!"

At least I'm now assured that my autographed Rossi piece will not be outdated since he'll remain a 9-time champ.

It would have been great to see that 10th championship though. Motorcycle racing is just so hard on the body. It's incredible he lasted this long.
