(not mine)
Two more low-mileage clean 76s going up for auction at Mecum Las Vegas later this month.
After the last one on BaT went for over $12K recently, wonder what these will do?
Mileage is nearly the same for all three.

I have cut up nicer bikes......
My first raw metal bike 2010 was a 830 mile bike in perfect condition $800
It doesn't take me 8 hours to do a day's work

Interesting that both of them have the later style pilot box (same as '77 and '78) instead of the small triangular box.  I wonder when Yamaha switched over?

Here's an old magazine ad I copied off the web with a picture of the pilot box.

The triangular pilot box was used on the early '76 models before a mid-year change. I'm not sure exactly when the changeover occurred, but these 2 bikes were built in the 2nd half of the production run. In fact, the serial #s are only 28 units apart.

Wow. Gives me hope that my basket case restore is worth at least what I put into it.

I related this info to a friend in our vintage club last night. He grimaced - has a chappy red 400c stting at home that just needs rejetting to get on the road.
