Hi
I have just found the forum is running again,
so thought I would share a few photos of some of my bikes, I hope you like them.

TZR 3XV fitted with an RD350 YPVS, with a bigbore conversion 535cc motor.
I built this in 2008 and was built from used parts from bike breakers or ebay, I made all carbon parts as well.

TZR535

On holiday at Isle of Man TT June 2011

Here it is at Creg-Ny-Baa  in the Classic TT Parade Lap 2014

RD250 LC on holiday at Hilbery TT 2018

I am very lucky to own this bike.
Its a Spondon Yamaha 500 which was built by Len Mancherster motorcycles for Brian Ried for the World TT/F1 championship in 1985
It was also one of the bikes on board  the Tornamona, the fishing boat that sank in Strangford Loch with both Joey & Robert Dunlop onboard.
The bike was salvaged 24hrs later and stripped and washed in deisel to stop the salt water corossion.

I restored the bike in 2014 as it had been stood in a shed for many years and was in a bit of a state!
however it was a complete bike, which made it quite easy.

heres a few links to the Tornamona
http://www.joeydunlop.co.uk/mfv_tornamona.htm

You can see the bike being salvaged on this video
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p007km34

I also have an MV Agusta 750 F4

I am currently restoring a Bimota YB3 race bike from 1980 which should be finished June/July this year.
I got the bike in boxes as it had been stripped and stored since June 1980.
The original fuel tank was Fiberglass & had been damaged, so I made molds from it and made the carbonfibre/Kevlar tank you can see here.
I have also made all the molds for the rest of the body work, however these will be fiberglass to keep in period.
Engine has obviously been fully rebuilt and the frame needs to be parinted red ect but not far off finished now.

It should look like this when finished.

Best regards
Peddro.

Wow!

Can't wait to see more of the Bimota!

So what is the deal with the TZR535? I'd love some more info on the big bore conversion.

Quite the collection.  Congratulations on the bikes, builds, resurrections, etc.  Would like to see a few more closeups on the carbon tank.... it looks really cool :celebrate: :celebrate:

Thanks for the kind comments.

Blake you asked
"So what is the deal with the TZR535? I'd love some more info on the big bore conversion".

I built the TZR535 as I liked the handling of the TZR 250 3XV
Which is similar to the Yamaha race bike TZ250 3YL & 4DP from the early 1990's
However the standard TZR 3XV only makes about 45bhp
So I decided to fit a bigbore motor into it to make it a bit more interesting ride, it makes over 101 BHP now.

The 535 conversion is a kit with long stroke crankshaft (+10mm stroke)
Plus mono block cylinders & head 73mm bore
These are made for the Banshee Quads for drag racing.
There are quite a few different kits combinations for various cc options.
421, 443, 485 490 & 535cc
plus a few other options

obviously I had to change many other things like:- carbs, ingnition, exhausts, clutch, cooling system ect so it wasnt cheap.

I hope that helps, if you need anymore just ask.

Best regards
Peddro.

Sorry but I didnt take many close up photos of the outside of the tank, but will take some next week when I am back in the workshop.

Basically I made 5 split molds which bolt together, from the top and sides, & 2 split molds from the lower of the old tank due to the shape of it.
Then made the 2 halves in carbon & Kevlar, and bonded the fuel tap inserts & filler neck, breather vent & mounting plugs into place.
Then bonded the 2 parts together, & then sealed the inside with a tank liner.

Base before cutting fuel tap holes

Top before cutting filler neck & breather vent holes

Fuel inserts bonded

Inside the tank showing the lap joint of the two havles

Chemical liner applied.

I hope that helps.

Best regards.

Tank looks like a lot of work involved, looks beautiful
Love the Spondon framed RD500, has to be lighter, handle better than the originals...a definite rarity.

Thanks for that.
It was a fair bit of work to make the tank, but I didnt have any option as you can get these tanks anymore and the original was damaged.
Its know wonder that they banded them from racing in the 250GP's back in the 1980's, as you can push the top of the tank in with just your thumb! hence why the failed during a crash.

Also, as its also my job making carbon parts & mold making, it wasnt to difficult to make, just trying to source the original fittings took a great deal of time, but got them copied in the end.
I have made this tank much stronger that the original fiberglass tank.

As for the Spondon
Its very light even just pushing it in the workshop. It handles very good to but dont know how much better than std as I havent ever ridden a std RD500.

I rode it at the Classic TT "Parade lap" August 2017.
Here is a link to an onboard video
Unfortunately the video stopped recording half way round the lap at Ramsey Hirpin, but you get the idea.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3GClLAw2-g

As it a Parade Lap, its a speed controlled lap by the traveling marshals so you cant go mad or they will pull you over to a marshals post and stop you.
Howeve you can overtake them if safe to do so, however all of the traveling marshals are all Ex TT race winners, so they know exactily where they are going, & are no mugs!
The bike didnt want to start when we got the the start line so I missed my original starting possition, so when I did get her going I was in with the crowd so it was a bit messy at the beginning and had to take it easy as the motor was still cold.
I couldn't thrash the old girl too much as shes very valuable.

Best regards

Slow progress on the bike build.
However the Bimota tank is now fuel tight, totally finished and ready for painting.
The damp patch by the fuel tap is just water as I had washed the tank to see what it would look like if it were to be clear-coat lacquered, as its only going to be painted.

Away for the next few weeks as I am a mechanic for a race team at the Isle of Man TT races.
So no more progress until mid June.

Best regards
Peddro.

SUPERTUNE

Very nice work, it could very easy not to be painted!
Have fun at IOMTT! I'll be watching as much of it I can!!
