The Red Scourge

That little FZR is a thing of beauty!  It may also be worth posting in the FZR400 (US) Americas group on Facebook.  They're small, but a very helpful community for the 400.  I've ended up with a whole bunch of 400 parts as well as another frame "accidentally" just trying to buy a set of race fairings.

Thanks Red! I'm not on Facebook but I will check it out.

They are indeed great handlers. I have owned a few of the US models over the years. The frame is aluminium unlike the FZR600 which had a steel frame. Very popular for track/race in Vintage classes. Would love for this to go to a Forum member who would love it as much as I do. Just looking to thin the herd a bit for new projects so open to reasonable offers!!!

Nice looking bike!

How do you like the Shinko tires? Are you running 006 Podiums?

Thanks! Yes Shinko Podium 006 front & back. I like them a lot. Great grip for street riding. I'd probably go for something more grippy for track riding. Overall I think they are underrated tires. Just my 2 cents.

Good to know! I was curious because they are about the only thing made that fits the 400, and what I'm planning to get for mine. Thanks!

If you want something more grippy check this site out:

For my previous FZR400 track bike I bought 18" track tires from Derek Bennett. Great advice & service!

That is a beautiful FZR400. GLWS

BlueR32, that is an interesting option for the 18 inch rear tire.

I ran the Shinko 006 tires on this bike before I converted it to a SV650 17 inch rear. It was the only option I could find for the rear. They worked fairly well. I went through two or three Shinko rear tires.

And put them on this bike since I have not converted the rear wheel on it yet. It still is running FZR wheels.
