I always thought a B8HS was a B8HS, etc. I've seen plugs with/without the nut on top but figured there weren't many other options given size, heat range, reach etc. Apparently my pack of plugs has a way different gap from the factory than my usual prescribed gap. Like it's at 1mm (.039) I'm looking for .55mm (.022).
When I adjust the gap these plugs have a goofy looking strap.

Run em?

I've never seen a NGK B8HS with a factory gap like that.  I don't know what I'd do.  Probably be OK but that is unusual from what I have seen.

there was recently a discussion about this i -think- in the rd owners group page, and there were, indeed, depending on if it was by the automotive number or the 'b8hs' number, some variance on factory gapping. was news to me as well.  From what i remember, the automotive only packaged ones were a wider gap.  :twocents:

Well now I don't feel so dumb. If I wasn't going to use them for a plug chop I wouldn't even hesitate...

SUPERTUNE

Yes, NGK makes a -11 number plug after the part # for a 1.1mm pre-gapped plug.

Looks like NGK recommends less than .008" from standard FWIW.

Economy Cycle John

speaking of plugs, NGK just discontinued the 400 plugs B8ES

Well it looks like NGK just shot themselves in the foot...now there's no reason to buy NGK resister plug caps as I'll just use MSD non-resister plug caps and use the BR8ES plugs! Stupid....

I bet they could produce a financial spreadsheet that shows they're not   ;D

I would have thought the B8ES to be the most common spark plug on the planet...but I guess my perspective is a bit focused
I post waayyy too much

What about using more modern, exposed tip plugs, like NGK Iridium plugs?

SUPERTUNE

They work well and I do use them on the Powerdynomo/Vape CDI's...just pricey at $7ea.
Most RD350 stock/point/coils are weak and will use them up faster...so the cheap plugs were great. About $3ea.

I bet NGK sells way more plugs than plug caps, so the change, while not optimum for us, may be optimum for them.
