RGV250 VJ21 SP

Back up on two wheels again.
GSXR400  swing arm fits perfect after machining off the ends to match the dimensions of the RGV arm. All new bearing EVERYWHERE, new tires also (Continental Super Moto).
The only thing really slowing me down is money.....I just ordered a Nitron rear shock $$$ and after buying the Dry clutch engine....I need to wait a few weeks till I have expendable cash to finish up the brake lines and pads. Then I will have to dig into the engine.

Looks great!  Love the idea of the Conti SM's...  they are the only tires Ive run on my Aprila and KTM Sumo's for the past 5 years or so. Going to "borrow" your idea!
Waiting to have Bill Wilson contact me to start the rebuild of my RZ500 engine.  May be riding by end to the summer.

I have 110 and 150 17 inchers on my VJ23 and they work beautifully.
Hard to find good sticky tires for small bikes.
Good luck on the RZ....hope you have a large amount of $$$ saved back....they can drain a bank account quick.

I've managed to accumulate a fair amount of cash with the sale of my RGV and KTM last year.  Bill's 1st estimate for the complete (but not a higher spec performance)rebuild was pretty stiff but reasonable given his use of almost all OEM Yamaha parts and attention to detail.  As luck would have it I gifted myself a set of Gus Christenson's crankshafts for X-mas when he was selling them for $600/pair shipped. Using the new cranks will save significant amount $ on the final price... Will be nice to have an essentially completely restored engine.

I thought about those cranks, but decided to rebuild, since the bearing manufacturer or grade of crank material was never specified.
Hopefully they will last during your lifetime of use
I'll be watching for the rebuild.
Sorry to hear you got rid of the RGV, but as long as you are reinvesting in more two stroke fun, I understand.
I sold my 72 GT750 Suzuki to help pay for my RZV...

Still no parts...
USPS delivered to wrong address, yet has delivery confirmation,.... and FedEx has delayed shipment as well.
No spare $$$ for engine parts at the moment, as I might need it for survival depending on if the government shuts our company down.
Bought 100 pounds of soda so I can start blasting clean, parts that I have had waiting for attention for other projects.
Too cold outside to blast though, so I played around with the RGV.....didn't accomplish anything permanent, but kept me entertained.

The RGV is on hold till the world gets back to some sanity....
The sun came out for a few hours today, so I decided I needed to get one of my strokers out.
The TZR got the short straw....went for about a 70 kilometer round trip out in the country....ran without the slightest issue
Have a set of HEL brake lines somewhere in the mail for it, and then I can get my TZ Nissin calipers on .

35 years together this spring....This relationship has lasted longer than every other form of relationship during my life.
It will be with me til the end... The only thing I still would love to do is put a dry clutch in it....I have a dry clutch fetish (4 of my strokers have them)

That one is for an air cooled Rd, but I'm pretty sure they make one for a RZ.

I have researched it a number of times, but have not heard from anyone after they put them in if they work without any engineering issues.
And they all are always just out of reach .....$$$$$ price wise....

The AMA Bonneville event has been canceled for this year, so no need to concern myself about getting the RGV SP done for that.
Although Bonneville did motivate me to get the Hayabusa up and running....so instead of paying entry fee to race, I bought plates and insurance for the street. (bike has sat dormant for almost 7 years)
Time for some spring cleaning to get garage organized, so the RGV SP had to get off the table.
Riding weather is finally here, so the projects will get little attention for a while.
Until the post/mailing system world wide gets back on track I will be unable to get the bike done, but that will give me time to regenerate some $$$ to finish it this fall.
In a dry build stage. May get bodywork painted in the next month or two as that will cost me only time (I work in a custom paint shop)

As part of the spring cleaning I am going to see about selling my very long term RGV VJ22 project.
I just don't have time for it, and have enough RGV's already.
