General Chatter / Re: duties, taxes, and fees

I ordered a couple of dzus fasteners via eBay from the UK, and eBay kept warning me that I'd have to pay the carrier import duties before delivery. USPS stuck 'em in my mailbox and didn't look back. It's been two weeks...

I got the fork seals and oil in, reassembled the front wheel, changed the nearly-black transmission oil, cranked the rear spring preload into the normal range and took my boys riding...

I have seen a lot of bent foot pegs, but this is a first:

He's fine, and they're just motorcycle parts. The little that I rode it (mostly downhill and one-handed, taking it back to the truck), it seemed very familiar and good.
BUT. Why are the new fork seals leaking like sieves after (literally) 1.7 trail miles? I have manuals and the correct tools, I like to think that I know what I'm doing, but this kinda sucks. They're All Balls seals; I've used their bearings in the past without issues, but this is the first set of their seals I've tried. I'm not looking forward to taking these forks apart again so soon  :bang:

Show Off / HF tire changer
June 05, 2026, 10:06:59 PM
Some years ago, Harbor Freight put their tire changer on sale for some ridiculous price, and when I saw they had a motorcycle attachment...well, I bit. Couldn't commit to sinking redheads in the floor of the barn I had at the time (which is a good thing, since the barn and I have since parted ways) and packed it around with me through two moves. The acquisition of the 200MXC prompted some tire changes and I dug out the HF artifact, still needing to mount it to something stable. In a rare moment of clarity, I had a garage epiphany:

The lift is heavy AF, and it's always taking up space center stage anyway. I made it (relatively) easy to install and remove and it's plenty solid. It's not fantastic; there are flaws, which I discovered relatively quickly.

This is the one of the clamps that's supposed to hold the rim, but it's vertical "clamping" surface is totally ineffective the moment one pries upward on a tire. I modified them:

I am accepting job offers as a journeyman welder, and don't lowball me; I know the value of my skills.
Anyway, it holds a wheel just fine now, and I'll start swapping knobbies.  :burnout:

My RZ350 and I have lived in Washington together in Washington since 1987, first in Ellensburg, then Olympia and since 2007 in Chehalis and Centralia. We've navigated Blewett pass, White pass, Snoqualmie and Stevens passes, traveled to Laguna Seca twice; all w/o rejetting. Unless you're jetted to the razor's edge of perfection, don't worry about it.

General Chatter / Re: New Kawi 2 stroke coming

That makes sense to me; they must have noticed the sales numbers of off-road two strokes and decided to get some of that cash.

Wouldn't it be great if this was the start of something? My first thought was that 327cc is too much displacement to qualify for the 450 class, so what's the end game? But of course I realized that Kawasaki doesn't want to compete with their own 450s, so...amateur racing?

I'm sorry that I don't have specific advice, but it sounds like an excellent idea!

Thanks,
Made them 2 pieces so the right side adjuster can adapt the larger hole the original hanger sat through.
