Awesome ride & Awesome story.
Thanks for sharing. Long distance rides on any vintage bike is not for weak riders. It's takes a lot.

General Chatter / Just checking in

I haven't been very active in my motorcycle adventures for the last couple years. Really haven't posted here accordingly either. Lots of not bike and family stuff has taken alot of my fire out. I would be more detailed but I'm not looking to make this a pity party. Suffice it to say sometimes shit sucks.
I'm really thankful for this group. I have tried getting it together and the truth is its not all that easy. But here I  am and hope to be a better member and be more active.
 Thanks guys.

Turning Wrenches / Petcock rebuild vs new

My LT3 petcock needs everything new. It's real messed up.
I can buy all new oem parts for it but it will cost me over 60 bucks.
I can buy a aftermarket replacement for about 20 bucks. I haven't had the greatest luck doing it either way. Leaning towards rebuilding.
 What are you guys doing?

I find them to be a bitch sometimes to remove when needed.

Which pin lock do you prefer?
I have lost my share of both on installation but neither have been a issue running.
I will say I lean towards standard.

Quote from: busa1300 on January 02, 2026, 12:25:27 PMI've seen dyno runs at 46hp at the rear wheel stock

That is probably right. I'll  report back after the tune. I want to complete the engine break in first.

Quote from: m in sc on December 28, 2025, 11:35:37 AMi always like those. the belt drive and the limited rear travel kept me from buying one but i def considered it a few times.

Never owned a belt drive bike. To be honest I couldn't feel any difference. May change my mind as time goes on.

The 4-Stroke Blasphemy Forum / 2025 Yamaha Bolt

I have never owned a cruiser and my wife asked if I ever was going to buy a brand new bike.
Started looking around and this bike  looked kinda fun.
Got a great deal on it as Yamaha isn't continuing the XV950models after 2026. The dealer had installed a set of Bassani's and a Cobra air intake. Bike is only 27" at the seat and so I being a short guy felt good on it. The motor has a roller cam valve train and fuel injection but is air cooled. It's essentially a stripped down bobber. Plenty of low end grunt with a top end around 110 mph in 5th gear. Runs a comfortable 80 cruising speed on the highway.
I need to do a dyno and tune to get full power from the exhaust and air mods plus a couple other changes I'll make including a bump up 2 teeth on the front pulley to make the highway rides even nicer and then a set of pull back risers to get the ergonomics a little better for my short arms.
I love my other vintage bikes but this is a pretty fun bike too.
