Modernized the RZ a little after my ignition box gave out.
New Zeel and Dyna 0.5 coil/wires added.
Did not cut into original harness, found plug ends to hook up as original.
Still need to add a quick shifter as I have on my RGV...and a switch so I can change from race gas to pump gas ignition curves.

Looking into finding some sticky tires also, as the Avon race tires are pretty old now....then I can maybe ride the thing a little.

Right after hooking up to verify everything I did worked....

Time for some new carpet.
Got rid of all the trashed mismatched pieces and got some indoor/outdoor stuff that was on clearance sale this week
Work is now just on benches or on my table....the garage has turned into the Moto Lounge.

Thanks    Hope your 3xv is running good, they are a dream to play on.
It has taken many years to get to this point, .....kids long gone and no more divorces definitely help my retirement back up, gain momentum
I had given up on buying more old bikes, as they have become too much work to keep all running each year....which has pushed me back to 4 strokes.
....the other side of the garage....

Buying older bikes.....the Dollar is killing the Yen right now.
My heart says no, but my brain is saying bring in another one while they are at such a discount.... :busey:

Another two stroke back on the road.
Billet 2 piece heads, billet 3 blade powervalves, Zeel ignition, and......
Going back to it's owner after piecing it back together for him.
Sad to see it go.

Haven't been down here on 2SW for at least a couple of years. Glad to see you here, Randy.

Thanks, haven't given up on two strokes yet.
Not many people into the more modern era stuff....
...more interesting and confusing.

And considerable more HP per CC, with less weight

I am in awe of the restorations, the quality of your work, and the incredible collection.  How do you get the frames so beautiful?  are they painted?

as far as sticky tires, take a look at the Continental radial race tires, what width are the wheels?  they have a 110 front and a 130 rear.  the 130 is good up to a 3.5" rim, the 110 is good up to a 2.5"  best race tire for an 18" wheel right now.  There are two guys that handle them, one is in Daytona, I will look up his info if you are interested.

Thanks, I use a soda blaster on the aluminum frames and engine parts.
Will not hurt anodizing, but it also will not do much to any corrosion either, sadly.
But it definitely cleans better than anything else I have found....just don't do it around any grass you want to keep.

The Avon AM22/AM23's I have are 110 and 130 on the RZ.
Have been wanting to try and get some Dunlop Alpha 14's, but not sold here in the states...Might try and get a set out of Japan while exchange rate is so good, need a set of 110, and 150's for my GS1000 project too. Not many options for 18's here

Bridgestone has an excellent superbike tire set, the rear is either a 150 or a 160.  I can post a contact that sells them AWESOME tires for an 18" big bike.  I would like to know more about this Dunlop, we lost the best 18" vintage tire when they ceased production.  I miss them, they were so awesome...

Is it a race compound or just a sticky street tire?

Scroll to the bottom for sizes
Alpha 14....the Alpha 13 had more sizes available, but out of production now
Have some Alpha 12's on my TZR and they are great even though they are getting old now
No 130 shown, but they do have a 150 that will work on my GS1000 AMA project.

Nice, reading about it, seems to be a sticky street tire.

GS1000 AMA with the Quarter Fairing?  I was at Charlotte with my TZ, I think in 79 for the AMA national.  Wes Cooley was there on the vetter bike, I have a few pics of it somewhere.  Spencer (as a very young guy) was on the Honda, with Roberto Pietri and I think Steve Mclaughlin, Dave Aldana was one of the Kawasaki riders, I pitted next to Jimmy Adama on the Reno Lioni tuned Duc desmo.  Someplace I have a stack of pictures including the vetter bike up close.

I watched Spencer take a 130-140 mph walk town the back straight when his Honda broke a rod and oiled the back tire, it was incredible he did not get hurt but his dam leathers where smoking.....

The web site show they make the 18's I need.
But looking online at all tire outlets shows only 17"s....

I'd love to see some of those pics of the early days of Superbike with Suzuki's
