We have about 6 weeks to get this POS basket case DS7 prepped and ready to win a 6hr endurance race at the local kart track.

Basically, it needs everything.

Plan so far is:
RD350 engine with Garrett GRA400C Amner crank rebuild, head skim/squish, lite porting, intake mod for Vforce YZ85 reeds.  Cast ProX pistons.
Mikuni VM30's with UNI pods
HPI ignition
Older MC Millennium Pipes
Shouldered aluminum rims
Stock caliper w/ss lines and 13mm master
Chinese ebay "cafe racer" seat
Tarozzi rearsets from FFTP
Works shocks, rebuilt forks with fancy springs.
etc.

Basics of the race:

6hrs total.  3hrs clockwise, 3hrs counterclockwise.  Track is 6/10th of a mile.  Fast guys do like 400+ laps.

1-3 man teams.  Grid is 16 bikes max.

3 classes:  Vintage <550cc, <1985.  Modern <250cc any year.  Flyweight <185cc and year.

That sounds like a blast.  I'm not sure my DT100 racer would last that long.   It does OK on the kart track though  :)  I waited until about a month before I needed to take it to Deals Gap to start on it.  It was a field find and needed a complete rebuild.  I'm sure you'll be OK.

Man I really wish events like this happed out my way...

You get no rest on that track...you might get a couple of breaths on the straight! Fun and tiring at the same time!!
Word to the wise...use race gas and scrub off coating (Pro-X) at the piston measurement point and run no less than .0025 piston to wall clearance.
25:1 on a good race premix oil.
Post pics of the build!

That's for sure!  Not much in life makes you have to think so fast.

Nathan, you'd definitely have a good time.  Aren't there any kart tracks halfway near you?

The closest small course I can think of is Herrin Compound, but that's not all that close.
There's also little Tally..
I'm not aware of any "legit" kart tracks near me, most are the bumper bowling style tourist kart tracks in Pigeon Forge..

I learned how to race on a 1/4 mile go kart track....... :righteous:

But, Little Tally is bigger now than when it got it's name...
Way back I geared way down and started in 2 gear off the starting line.
Won most of the races there by doing that...
