I got my first batch of parts back from the chrome shop and they look fabulous.  He took the dents out of the fenders (yay!), I don't think I've EVER seen a rear fender without dents.  I will be sending a whole lot of stuff to him in in the spring, after I get back from a 3 month vacation.  Need to do further disassembly and cleaning of stuff to figure out what I can chrome.  In the mean time, enjoy this:

Wow. Looks great Ed. I've been meaning to check up on your chrome bits status. I have a kitchen table from the 50's who's legs need to be re-chrome. Definitely going to be going to these guys.

This R5 is going to be SHINYYYYY

I don't know which I'm more jealous of, your shiny chrome parts or the fact you're taking a 3-month vacation!

For sure the 3 month vacation. Who does that. WTF. 🤔

Regarding the vacation....

My wife is an avid golfer so I rented a place in Florida for the winter so she can keep playing.

I would rather be home making progress on my bike, it's hard to get all the coming tasks out of my head.  Meanwhile I have no desire for golf, so I'm working part time down here for beer-and-chrome money...and doing some fishing.

SOOOO happy to be back at home after 3 months.  All prepped for a significant period of social distancing.  I've been dreaming about getting back to my project, and today is the day...

I completed stripping  the frame - forks off and lump out.  This is the first I could flip the old frame over and see how bad the cancer is.......

I guess it MIGHT have made it another season, lol.

Have had a few very productive days in the garage.
- Made two orders, some from Economy and some from Yambits.  Sorted through all the parts needed and made the orders Sunday.  Remarkably both are scheduled to be here Wednesday.
- Cleaned the wiring harness and other misc wiring In The ultrasonic cleaner.

- Did a final disassembly, cleaning and inventory of all items going to chrome.  52 parts in all.

Lots of cleaning to do while I wait for parts.  Motor, Swingarm, etc...

New shiny bits.

Lever Hardware:

Headlight, Tank Crossover, Rubber stuff...

The goods from Yambits....  of note, the only source I know of for R5 Chain Pullers and they are really nice, heavy metal and chrome.  Was cheaper than rechroming my twisted up originals.
