I just thought it amusing that they were so specific about something that is not necessarily desirable vs. the typical "new tires and tubes"

Unfortunately, most of these bikes get hidden away and sit but I guess that is the fate for alot of motorcycles.

True two stroke cognoscenti only ride Cheng Shin Barracudas:)

Certainly nice and clean tho.

The fact that it goes to 200 ought to be good for some gas pump cred:)  Dudes on 'busas gonna be trippin about a tiny bike goin that fast.

That actually became kind of an inside joke/standard answer for alot of the guys at the track.  There were alot of 200 mph ninja 250s for a while:)

Complete 2nd set of ignition system is also common in aviation and it really shouldnt add much weight.  I could put you in touch with a guy in E. Liverpool that builds his own frequently if it will help.  Also, I think its been tested that dual plugs make more power.

Really shouldnt be necessary though, I'm thinkin you'll find something simple and obvious once you see it.

Good luck, more fun to drive em but good fun working on them as well:)

Glad to see you finally got some quality seat time, it was a tough weekend to be racing.

That track is always going to be hard on brakes and cooling systems, lots of elevation and stop and go. 95 degrees doesnt help either.  Might need to do things differently just for that track.

Good luck finding the short, hopefully its not in an expensive place.  You'll find it, there cant be too many wires on that thing:)

Heat may have been a factor if you are running points and the primary is on the stator, wires and coils only like to be so hot and vintage enamel might melt when the motor is really soaked out.  You being water cooled makes me think its unlikely but I dont know those engines at all, I'm sure it wasnt cool behind the flywheel Sunday.

I think that video mostly just made me want Schwantz's bike:)

Oh, if the guy that was calling him wanting it shipped to daytona is on here, I'm not likely to do much with it until next year and I do know of at least one set of bikes headed to Orlando from up here and they may have room.

Dt100 could go too, in boxes RN but we ran the engine and had a look inside before we took it apart, wheels and frame in suprisingly good condition and I'd say 95% of what it needs to run is there, maybe 98%.  $500 will do it, could bring to pgh this wknd for someone on here.

IIRC when I looked into it, the e start worked on the generator somehow so it didnt actually have a separate starter. Kinda cool I thought but I dont mind kicking them.  Its seems like they dont come up too often but arent all that expensive either.

The 350 is in my driveway, its rough but its there, it could use to get rained on a bit, pretty solid ant infestation. Dude claims that the neigbor had a pile of scrap and it was in it so he pulled it.  I might just Ospho it to death and run it if it noone needs it.  I dont mind looks terrible, runs great:)

Picked up the roller for the dt100 swap that was aborted so that can go back together.

Finally, and definately belonging in the blasphemy category, I got to drive a good running Thing around town.  It was interesting, you are very much "motoring"

200 actually sold this past weekend, just talked to the guy.  Apologies for the false alarm.  Hopefully it went to a good home, it was a fair amount of work
#55
Behind stuff, hard to take pics, generally inacessible..   I havent talk led to him in a month but he wasnt all that motivated at the time.
#56
Neighbor that only has one bike said I should go get them both, he did not offer garage space however.

Think the 200 was around $500 ask
#57
Dunno but pic attached.  Supposedly has paper, lectric start, did see a vid of it running, barely. Also was supposedly buried but that was a month ago, he did say it was going to mido since he'd found another project.

Turning Wrenches / Re: HPI and LED HL- update
July 18, 2022, 04:56:12 PM
I dont remember the specifics but I think leds dont have that much inherent reverse voltage tolerance as compared to a normal diode so if theres not a circuit in front of it, it may not do the half wave thing too good by itself.

Mine was cheap, I think I actually got two, not sure why I didnt try the second or cut the first one apart.

They should be fine with DC, when u push AC through them, ya takes yer chances.

I did it on an AC gy6 just to see. It didnt last long, may have popped immediately.

I'm sure it was the cheapest one on ebay at the time so ymmv

I also have a number for a guy with an rd200 that would go cheap. It will prob get taken to MidO and sold unless one of us knuckleheads gets to it first.

Despite not having space, if anybody really needs these bikes, I have plenty of room on the front porch:)
