Quote from: oxford on November 28, 2025, 08:38:00 AMHere is some inspiration if you are still going the OEM route.  100 3/8" holes per rotor and they were also thinned down to around 5mm.

Simply stunning

Last month a bird flew into my helmet shield with some good force, it was intense and glad it did not cause me to crash.......first time getting hit in the head with a bird. No helmet law in Idaho but glad I was wearing mine that day.

That would be cool even in that suit, I could hear it know with a 2 stroke power plant.

My CS5 200 will do 65 comfortably and will go another 15 mph but I do not like to keep in those higher RPMs for very long.Yes and it still suffers a bit on the roads power wise but the RD 250 makes up for it just fine, I can even put my wife on the back with a combined weight of 300 lbs. me being 185

Quote from: 2 Smoker on August 23, 2025, 12:45:07 PMI am confused because my research for my 1974 Yamaha RD 250 A US version paint code search came back as 3469 M2/GLD Gold Dust. Never in my search did I find Amber Brown but this post did come up in a internet search and glad it did. Is their a code sequence to go with the color?

  thanks

I just found the code 00N3 ABW Amberbrown

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Jim,

the RD250A is Amber Brown
The Yamaha internal code for Amber Brown is 00N3 and abbreviated as ABW
It was the only model in that color in '74.
To achieve the Amber Brown finish, Yamaha applied a Silver Dust (00Y1) base coat, followed by an Amber Brown Candy top coat, and a final coat of clear (0400).

Not sure what source you got the Gold Dust color from, but the only model I see in that color is the '73 CT3 175. That color was not used in '74. Also, Gold Dust has the code 00M2 and abbreviation GLD. "3469" is not a Yamaha color code according to my documents.

Thank you for the confirming information, I did not know about the silver dust base coat.

Internet searches can lead one into many directions.

 Thanks Russ,
Jim

Thank you, I still need to rip the carbs apart. I was thinking the issue was carb related also.

Turning Wrenches / Hesitant Accelleration RD 250A

My RD 250 currently has all stock carburetors with the stock filters with needle clip position being in the center, the bike runs very well but on a stop first gear 1/4 throttle has a very distinctive bog unless really heavy on the rev of throttle before releasing clutch. The bike also has a good smoke trail on full 3/4 to full throttle.
Thing I have in mind to do is check my reed valves ( throttle bog)to see if they are seated. Maybe remove stock y boot to filter box and replace with foam pods.

Any suggestions would be great.
